Summary
Optimize for fun.
- Optimize for learning — ask questions. acquire knowledge, then apply it (potential & kinetic energy).
- Have autonomy — follow curiosity. Move around to different departments. Invent positions. Fire yourself. Cross-breed skill sets to create specific knowledge.
- Have earnings based on performance — if you deliver, you get paid. If you over-deliver you get rewarded.
Never prioritize money over learnings. When you are no longer learning, and simply focused on earning, you’re doing the wrong thing. Your quality of work will suffer. If you optimize for fun, you’ll end up making more money.
When to switch what you’re doing:
- When you’re no longer learning.
- When you’re not able to try new things.
- When you’re earnings are capped.
